The Land Rover Defender 110 is now being assembled in India, with prices reduced by up to ₹34 lakh. The luxury SUV is available with three engine options in the X-Dynamic HSE trim.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has commenced local assembly of the Land Rover Defender 110 in India, bringing a significant price reduction to its popular luxury SUV. The move sees the Defender 110 transition from being sold as a fully imported vehicle to being assembled domestically through the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route at JLR’s Pune facility.

Following this change, the Defender 110 range now starts at ₹99 lakh (ex-showroom), making the rugged luxury SUV more accessible to prospective buyers. Depending on the engine option, prices have dropped by up to ₹34 lakh.

Land Rover Defender 110: New Prices in India

The locally assembled Defender 110 is offered in the X-Dynamic HSE trim with three powertrain options. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol variant is priced at ₹99 lakh, down from ₹1.13 crore. Meanwhile, the 3.0-litre turbo-petrol and diesel versions are priced at ₹1.18 crore each, compared with their earlier price of ₹1.52 crore.

This translates into savings of ₹14 lakh on the 2.0-litre petrol version and ₹34 lakh on both 3.0-litre variants. All prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi.

Engine Options and Performance

The Defender 110’s locally assembled range offers a choice of petrol and diesel engines to suit different driving preferences. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine produces approximately 300bhp, while the 3.0-litre turbo-petrol delivers around 400hp. The 3.0-litre diesel engine develops approximately 350bhp.

All three powertrains are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel-drive capability, supporting the Defender’s combination of everyday usability and off-road performance.

More Features Now Offered as Standard

Alongside the revised pricing, JLR has made several previously optional features standard on the 3.0-litre X-Dynamic HSE variants. These include 20-inch wheels, illuminated metal treadplates, an electronic active differential with torque vectoring, four-way manually adjustable winged headrests and heated third-row seats.

The changes enhance the overall value proposition without altering the Defender’s distinctive design, premium positioning or off-road-focused character.

What Local Assembly Means for Buyers

Local assembly allows JLR to reduce costs associated with importing fully built vehicles, helping the company offer more competitive pricing in India. The Defender’s move to domestic assembly is particularly significant because it was JLR India’s best-selling model in FY2026.

For buyers considering a premium SUV, the lower starting price could make the Defender 110 a more attractive option. However, the locally assembled range currently focuses on the 110 body style, while other Defender versions continue to be offered separately.

With substantial price reductions and additional standard equipment, the locally assembled Land Rover Defender 110 strengthens its position in India’s luxury SUV market.
